Videonystagmography (VNG) is a diagnostic test used to evaluate vestibular (balance) function and diagnose disorders related to the inner ear. It measures eye movements in response to various stimuli, helping to assess how well the vestibular system is functioning.VNG is used to find out if you have a disorder of the vestibular system.

Purpose of VNG:

  • Diagnosing Dizziness and Balance Disorders
  • Assessing Vestibular Function.
  • Helps diagnose conditions such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular neuritis, and Ménière's disease.

 

A VNG can help diagnose several vestibular disorders :

  1. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)

  2. Meniere's disease

  3. Labyrinthitis.

  4. Vestibular neuritis

  5. Acoustic neuroma
