Hearing Test

Hearing Test, also known as an audiometry test, measures a person's ability to hear sounds. It can help determine the cause and severity of hearing problems.

Hearing Test assesses an individual's hearing ability and identifies any hearing loss. It typically includes various assessments like pure tone audiometry and speech audiometry. Tests are crucial for newborns, children, and adults experiencing hearing difficulties.

Types of Hearing Tests :

  1. Pure Tone Audiometry:

    The patient wears headphones and listens to tones of different frequencies and volumes. They indicate when they hear a sound. The Purpose of this test is to Measures hearing sensitivity at various frequencies (pitches).

  2. Speech Audiometry :

    Involves repeating words or sentences presented at various volumes to assess clarity and comprehension. and purpose is to evaluates how well a person can understand speech.

  3. Impedance Audiometry (Tympanometry) :

    A probe is placed in the ear canal, and changes in air pressure measure how the eardrum moves.Tests do to know middle ear’s function.

  4. Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs) :

    A small microphone is placed in the ear canal to measure sound waves produced by the inner ear in response to auditory stimuli. This test assesses the function of the inner ear (cochlea).

  5. Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) :

    Electrodes are placed on the scalp to measure brain responses to sound clicks.ABR evaluates the auditory pathway from the ear to the brain.
